A private villa already gives you independence from a hotel's schedule — a scooter extends that to the road. Ao Nang's beach road, the hills above it, and the coast toward Krabi Town are all easy, flat-to-rolling riding, and having your own wheels means no waiting on Grab during peak hours or negotiating a songthaew fare every time you want a coffee somewhere new.
Booking Straight from the Villa
Rather than comparing rental shops along the beach road, Arterra Haven now arranges motorbike rental directly — automatic scooters and manual motorcycles, delivered to the villa. See current models and daily rates → It's the same idea as booking a tour through us: one less thing to sort out once you've landed.
What It Actually Costs
| Type | Typical daily rate |
|---|---|
| Automatic scooter (125cc) | From ฿250–300/day |
| Manual motorcycle | From ฿300–350/day |
Rates vary by model — ask at booking for the current lineup and photos of each bike.
Road Rules Worth Knowing
- Helmets are required by law and checkpoints do stop tourists — it's also just the sensible call on Krabi's hillier roads.
- An international driving permit covering motorcycles is technically required, and matters if you ever need to make an insurance claim after an accident.
- Traffic keeps left, and roundabouts near the Ao Nang junction take a moment to get used to if you're not used to them.
- Fuel is cheap and available at small roadside stalls selling it by the bottle, as well as proper stations a short ride away.
Where a Scooter Beats a Taxi
Tiger Cave Temple's long staircase, the Krabi Town riverside for an evening walk and dinner, and the smaller viewpoints above Ao Nang that don't have a formal parking area for tour vans — all of these are far more pleasant on your own schedule than boxed into a set tour time. Save the boat for the islands; save the scooter for everything on land.
